Local Boys Earn DeMolay Awards

January 18, 2008 -- On Wednesday, January 16, two members of Ethan Allen Chapter, of the DeMolay Leaders of New Jersey, received one of the highest awards given by the youth group, which is sponsored by Freemasons in the State of New Jersey. Christopher G. age 17, and his brother Nicholas G., age 13, received the Representative DeMolay Degree from State Master Councilor Andrew Strucek, with help from State Scribe James Chawalyk, Jr. The award is the highest self-achievement award a DeMolay can earn and is rarely given. It focuses on evaluating the individual’s strengths and weaknesses while measuring progress toward personal goals. Members from DeMolay chapters across the state, as well as Executive Officer Lee Beattys, participated in the event at Fidelity Masonic Lodge in Ridgewood, the sponsor of Ethan Allen Chapter. The evening concluded with a reception.

Worshipful Master Mike Firkser of Fidelity Lodge commented to the award recipients, “You are examples of the young men envisioned by DeMolay founder “Dad” Frank S. Land, embodying strong character and leadership. You are models, not only to new members of the chapter, but to the general public, as well.” “The hard work earning the degree was definitely worth it,” said Christopher G.. “It was wonderful to see the support from so many.”
