Scholarships

 

There are a variety of scholarships available to DeMolays for both undergraduate and graduate studies.  A description of some of the scholarships are presented below.

 

Frank S. Land Scholarship:  Applicant must be an active member of DeMolay to be eligible for one of the several $1,000 Frank S. Land scholarships awarded each year.  The definition of "active member is:  Any member of DeMolay that has not yet reached his majority...21st birthday.  

 

General Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons Scholarship:  DeMolay awards three $1,000 York Rite Scholarships to "active" or Senior DeMolay members.  The York Rite Scholarship supports post-baccalaureate education.  

 

 The DeMolay Leaders of New Jersey Scholarships:   Believing that the future of our nation and its progress depends upon educated young people, and their preparation to

meet the challenges of the future and to solve the problems of their citizenry, and to perpetuate the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; New Jersey DeMolay has established scholarship awards for New Jersey DeMolays. A scholarship award of $1,000 will be paid directly to the accredited institution of choice for the tuition charged by that institution. (Awards for graduate studies may be granted under certain, unusual circumstances.)  Undergraduate scholarships will be awarded to young persons who have satisfactorily completed the requirements for high school graduation, who have been accepted in an accredited college or university or who have or is currently attending, who have not yet reached the age of twenty-one or who, if the applicant has worked for one year following high school graduation, has applied for this scholarship prior to his twenty-second birthday.  The committee will consider the applicant’s academic achievement, financial need, character, and service to others, in awarding scholarships.

 

Joseph N. Culver DeMolay Scholarship:  This scholarship is sponsored by the Masonic Charity Foundation and is available to members of NJ DeMolay Chapters who are graduating high school seniors who will be enrolling in the fall as a full time college freshman at a four-year university or college.  The scholarships are payable directly to the school upon receipt of the semester bill  and applicable transcript.  Installments will be for $500 per semester for a total of $1,000 per year for 4 years.  The recipients must complete the semester and maintain certain academic requirements.

 

Grotto Scholarship:  DeMolay works with the Grotto in awarding four $1,500 pre-medical/pre-dental scholarships.    The Grotto is an organization for Master Masons that supports several charities.  One of these provides dental care for children with special needs.

 

 NJ Legion of Honor Preceptory Scholarship:  Undergraduate scholarships in the amount of $500 paid directly to the individual to pay for textbooks will be awarded to high school graduates who have met all requirements.  Scholarships will be considered based on academic achievement, financial need, character, and service to others.
